PARC SIGNS: HOME / CASE STUDIES /
We have been proud suppliers of site and shop signage to Clarks Village Shopping Outlet Centre in Somerset for over 15 years. Over recent years the Centre has gained a reputation as being one of the most sustainable shopping centres in the country in relationship to their excellent recycling scheme in which over 80% of the centres waste is recycled and offset against Carbon Emissions.
Following on from some recent awards Clarks Village approached us about a new, original and interactive way that they could engage with the shoppers and tell them about their achievements. The budget was set and brief was as open as that, so our designers set to work and hence was born the Eco-Pod!
The columned structure completely powered by Solar Energy stands at over 3m high and takes pride of position in the shopping centres heart. Made predominately from recycled and recyclable materials such as 80% recycled glass, 80% recycled foamex PVC, locally sourced sustainable Oak timber, housed around a recyclable aluminium structure.
Each of the four sides contain information and interactive elements that describe Water Saving, Electrical Saving, Eco Travel and Clarks Achievements. There are games targeted at the young or young at heart in which they can turn a turbine to power enough energy to light an LCD display, chase lights around a panel to reveal facts and figures and receive additional content, vouchers and paper free leafleting via our very own Skycasting Bluetooth technology broadcast unit.
The eco-pod was designed and manufactured from scratch completely in house including all the graphical content which further reinforces Parc Signs "1 stop shop" capabilities of project management. It was officially opened to coincide with the centres Eco Week in October half term.
