GEEVOR TIN MINE - LODE MODEL

Parc Signs won a commision to produce a LODE MODEL for the new Hardrock exhibit at the mine in South Cornwall.

Our challenge was to create an interactive education exhibit explaining where mineral lodes run throughout the earths surface in the Geevor area. The first stage was a trip underground to the original mine workings at Geevor, an experience a few of us won't forget in a hurry!

We developed a carved foam scale representation of the local coastline, hand painted and finished with an aerial print which was expertly wrapped onto the models surface, thats when the fun started.

We positioned fibre optic light cable to highlight the mineral lodes, and fibre optic endlit strands to illuminate where mine shafts are dug in relationship to the mineral lodes. These were interactively controlled from user via an illuminated push button control panel.

To complete the unit the a section of the model raises from the ground via an automated lift to reveal the mining structure that lies under your feet!

The exhibit will be available to view when the new Museum opens later this year.
