WWT Castle Espie Wetland Centre

In late October we installed interpretation signs for the WWT at their new site in Northern Ireland, Castle Espie.  This followed many months assisting the WWT with the design ideas and then manufacturing all elements in house.  Once the works were complete our Project Manager loaded it all up, took it off to Ireland and worked  alongside staff from the WWT to install these signs and get the rest of the site ready for the grand opening.

Castle Espie is the most significant habitat improvement of its kind in Ireland with the restoration extending to saline lagoons, limestone grasslands, salt marshes, reed beds and grassland for herbivorous wildfowl.  Many unique and innovative solutions have been employed in the built and natural environments but most significantly it is the interplay between local history, culture, ecological design and habitat restoration that makes Castle Espie so unusual.  These unique features played an important role in the overall design of the interpretation signs.  It was essential that they communicated a clear message to the visitors whilst remaining in keeping with the sensitive natureof the surrounding environment.

Having worked with the WWT on all their sites across the country we are proud to have been part of this exciting new project for them in Northern Ireland.
